Work place health and Safety

Safe Height Access

Our company operates with a work health and safety management system aligned with the requirements for internationally recognised ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety that focuses on safety compliance, conformance with procedures so a quality service is delivered. Our main priority for every project, regardless of its value or size, is to eliminate or minimise risk to employees, clients, property and the public. We use a systematic methodology to address work health and safety in the organisation. With exemplary system components in place, specific work health and safety issues can be identified and promptly addressed within this framework.

We take a multi-faceted approach to height safety, also providing risk assessments, product information and installer training in addition to our height safety systems to ensure your project, task or worksite is fully secured. From assessing your ongoing maintenance needs and offering risk analysis to providing easy-to-follow manuals and system training, Rope Works go beyond the minimum standards required for working at heights to ensure everything goes to plan.

IRATA Certified Rope Access Technicians

All of our rope access technicians are Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) certified. Using rope access methods gives us great advantages in accessing difficult locations in a safer, faster way, with minimal impact on other operations,  surrounding areas and the environment.

We choose IRATA technicians over any other rope access association since they are internationally recognised for their high expectations from their members. They have rigorous monitoring, controls and superior training and an international code of practice to support and guide their trained members.

Inductions & Qualifications

We use a web and app-based platform to ensure the whole team is fully inducted and qualified for the planned works. With alerts and reminders when refreshers are due as well as a qualification matrix to help us handpick to best combination of qualified tradespeople for the project in hand.

100% of our onsite staff hold a valid Work Safely at Heights Certificate. e recognise the importance of as many people as possible being aware of the risk and hierarchy of control to be considered when working at height; running from elimination to substitution before isolation, engineering and administration to manage or control the risk.

While the ‘Work Safely at Heights’ Unit of Competency (RIIWHS204D) does not have an expiry date, the Working at Heights Association (WAHA) and other industry bodies recommend that this training is refreshed every 2 years. We like to be above industry standard in all possible ways, so we prefer to refresh our onsite personnel training annually to ensure we are always up to date with any changes.

More than half of our entire staff are first aid trained, including all CPR certificates being refreshed every 12 months. This means it’s not uncommon to have a whole team onsite with every person being appropriately trained to deal with first aid situations if they should occur. We always have at least one first aider onsite, prepared with a first aid kit that is regularly audited to ensure it is suitably stocked

SWMS & Toolboxes

‘Safety’ refers to mitigating risk of injury or damage to our personnel, yourselves as our valued clients, the public and the property you entrust us with. We do this, by not only using competent and qualified staff but also carefully considering the most appropriate and safest methodology to be used, which gets transcribed in a ‘safe work method statement’; more commonly referred to as SWMS.

The teams conduct a toolbox talk at the beginning of every shift, to ensure any additional factors that may affect works is acknowledged, discussed in detailed and controlled by whichever means are necessary.

Audits & Inspections

Our Project Managers and WHS representatives conduct systematic inspections during the course of a project to ensure the quality and safety expectations are being upheld – and they always are!

Policies & Procedures

We implement and enforce policies and procedures that preach a ‘zero drop’ philosophy.

We are continuously updating our library of procedures to detail and adequately prepare personnel for the equipment and methods we use.

More experienced staff are selected as ‘lead hands’ to oversee and ensure works are compliant to these procedures.
